Customizable Parameters

The following is a list of all customizable System and Workstation / User Parameters. In addition to the parameters listed here, there are several additional parameters that can only be edited through their dedicated Parameter Maintenance dialogs and others that (normally) can't be edited at all.

The parameters are grouped and sorted by category. An individual parameter can be found in the System and Workstation / User Parameter Maintenance dialogs by searching for the value in the second column of the table, which is labeled "Title". The first column lists the "Name" of the parameter, the third column lists the "Default Value" for the parameter, while the fourth column contains a "Description" of the parameter, explaining its purpose and listing all possible values and their meanings.

Select a Category from the following list for quicker navigation:

  1. System Parameters (for Department-wide settings):

  2. Workstation / User Parameters (for Workstation/User-specific settings):

Workstation / User Parameters

Display Setup
Name Title Default Value Description
UP_MenuOnly Setup: Display Menu Only
"Y" for "Yes (Menu Only)"
By default, EJS OnSite applications will be sized to cover the entire Desktop at program startup. After logging in, the Main Dialog can be automatically resized to only show the Main Menu of the application, leaving the underlying Desktop visible:
  • "Y" for "Yes" (Show only Main Menu on top of Screen)
  • "N" for "No" (EJS OnSite Dialog covers entire Desktop)
UP_ConfirmDel Setup: Display and Require Confirmations
"Y" for "Yes (Require Confirmations)"
Before performing certain non-reversible or time consuming actions, like the Deleting of records or creating complex reports, the program will often require a confirmation in the form of a confirmation dialog, where the user needs to press the "Yes" or "OK" button to execute the action. Experienced users might want to skip those extra confirmation dialogs:
  • "Y" for "Yes" (Require a Confirmation before certain Actions)
  • "N" for "No" (Perform all Actions immediately, without Confirmations)
Note: This option is currently disabled, and setting it to "No" will have no effect. For security reasons, confirmations can't be disabled anymore!
UP_ConfirmAll Setup: Display All Confirmation Messages
"Y" for "Yes (Show all Messages)"
After completing certain non-reversible or time consuming actions, like the Deleting of records or Re-Indexing of Data, the application will often display a confirmation message, where the user needs to press the "OK" button to continue. Even though Confirmation dialogs will automatically be closed after a certain time-out, which is usually 30 Seconds, experienced users might want to skip the display of those messages entirely:
  • "Y" for "Yes" (Show Confirmation Messages after Completion)
  • "N" for "No" (Skip all "Action Completed" Confirmation Messages)
Note: Error Messages will always be displayed and can't be suppressed with this option. Error Messages will also usually only close automatically after 5 Minutes.
Data Entry Setup
Name Title Default Value Description
UP_SLE_Cursor Data Entry: SLE, Exit with Left/Right
"N" for "No (Stay in Field)"
This option allows users to exit Single-Line Edit (SLE) and SpinButton fields with the Left and Right Cursor Navigation Keys when entering data. When using the Right Arrow at the End -- or the Left Arrow at the Beginning -- of a field, focus is given to the Next -- or Previous -- data entry field. By default, this option is set to "No" and SLE fields can't be exited with the Left and Right (Arrow) Cursor Navigation keys, requiring the use of the Enter, Down (Arrow), or TAB keys to advance to the next field or the Up (Arrow) or Shift + TAB keys to select the previous data entry field.
  • "Y" for "Yes" (SLE fields can be exited with Right/Left Cursor)
  • "N" for "No" (Right/Left Cursor won't exit SLE fields)
UP_SLE_AutoEx Data Entry: SLE, Auto Exit if Full
"N" for "No (Stay in Field)"
When this option is enabled, Single-Line Edit (SLE) and SpinButton fields can be exited -- and focus will be given to the Next data entry field -- when the field is full. This allows quicker data entry -- especially for small fields with a fixed length of characters -- by not requiring an extra key, like pressing the Enter, Down (Arrow), or TAB key to advance to the next field.
  • "Y" for "Yes" (SLE fields are exited when they are full)
  • "N" for "No" (The Cursor will stay at the end of full SLE fields)
UP_MLE_Cursor Data Entry: MLE, Exit with Cursor Keys
"N" for "No (Stay in Field)"
This option allows users to exit Multi-Line Edit (MLE) fields, such as Notes or Narratives, with the Up, Down, Left and Right Cursor Navigation Keys when entering data. When enabled, using the Down Arrow in the last line or the Right Arrow at the End of the last line -- or the Up Arrow in the first line or the Left Arrow at the Beginning -- of a field, focus is given to the Next -- or Previous -- data entry field. By default, this option is set to "No" and MLE fields can't be exited with the (Arrow) Cursor Navigation keys, requiring the TAB key to advance to the next field or Shift TAB to go to the previous data entry field.
  • "Y" for "Yes" (MLE fields can be exited with (Arrow) Cursor keys)
  • "N" for "No" (Cursor Navigation is limited to inside of MLE fields)
UP_MLE_PageDn Data Entry: MLE, Save with Page Down Key
"N" for "No (Show next Page)"
This option allows users to use the "Page Down" ShortCut key in Multi-Line Edit (MLE) fields to Save data. Normally, the "Page Down" key is interpreted as a Cursor Navigation Key within an MLE field, which requires the use of either the "ALT + S" ShortCut key or using the Mouse to select the "Save" button, to save the data when an MLE has focus.
  • "Y" for "Yes" (MLE fields allow the Page Down ShortCut for Saving)
  • "N" for "No" (MLE fields will show the Next Page when Page Down is pressed)
Note: When this option is enabled, it isn't possible to view the next page of an MLE by pressing the "Page Down" Key, and the repeated use of the Cursor Down Key or the MLE's Vertical Scroll Bar is required for this purpose.
